About Me

My name is Kevin Jaako. I help sculpt the way we interact with technology.

I'm 27 years old, 195cm tall and I use a mac. I listen to blues music, I love traveling, I sometimes go jogging in the mornings and I really, really hate the taste of cranberry juice. (blargh!!)

I'm opinionated, extremely driven and I love a good debate. I have LOTS to say about UX, interaction design and the internet.

I was born in Vancouver, B.C. but I'm living in Barcelona these days. After leaving North America, I moved around a fair bit and spent time living in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. I've lived in Europe for the past couple years now, so I've become quite good at measuring liquid in decilitres. (weird.)

Professionally

As a UX designer, I enjoy shaping the digital interfaces we use every day and making technology friendlier and easier to use.

In every aspect of my professional career, I operate with one fundamental belief above all others: That successful design allows users to work WITH their tools... not AT them. Whether the tool is a pipe-wrench or an online banking website, it should be able to be operated instinctively and without immediate consciousness of its interface.

I've done work for lots of different industries, ranging from e-Government & e-Health applications to global shipping/logistics management to tech startups and social networks. I've led teams, managed projects, shaped creative visions and developed really cool products. There is no doubt in my mind that our world is moving towards an online, inter-connected & integrated future and I'm excited to be a part of making that happen.
